Himachal Pradesh Rains
Heavy rain has yet again battered parts of Himachal Pradesh, triggering floods and landslides in several areas. As a result of the heavy downpour, floodwaters inundated a bus depot in Mandi district.
Landslides are also reported from several parts in Shimla.
Due to incessant rain in Mandi, bus stand of Dharampur was flooded with water and many buses and vehicles were swept away.
“Dharampur town was the worst affected as the Son Khad river suddenly swelled and took a furious form. Around midnight, floodwaters gushed into the bus stand, submerging several state-run buses and sweeping away others along with dozens of private vehicles including cars, bikes, and scooters,” DCP Dharampur Mandi said.
Owing to intense rain and thunderstorms, officials announced closure of 493 roads, including three national highways, for traffic on Monday.
The Attari-Leh stretch of National Highway-3, Aut-Sainj section of NH-305 and Amritsar-Bhota stretch of NH-503A were among the 493 roads that remained closed for vehicular movement, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).
