World No. 1 ODI team India will face six-time champions Australia in their first match of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027 on October 7. The match between the two finalists of the 2023 ODI World Cup will be played at Newlands in Cape Town.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule for next year’s 50-over mega event on Thursday (October 1) in Cape Town, and according to it, India’s second Group A match is scheduled against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 10.

The high-voltage clash between the two former ODI World Cup winners is set to be played at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
India will then face Asian rivals Afghanistan in Tshwane (formerly Pretoria) on October 14, Qualifier
A in Bloemfontein on October 17 and co-hosts Zimbabwe in the newly constructed Victoria Falls on October 24.

If India finish in the top three of Group A, they will qualify for the Super 7s, with matches scheduled to be played from October 25 to November 14.

The two semi-finals are scheduled to be held in Cape Town and Tshwane on November 17 and 18, respectively, while The Wanderers will host the final on November 21.
In the 2023 edition of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, India also faced Australia in their first match on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and their next two matches were against Afghanistan in New Delhi on October 11 and Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14.
In the ODI World Cup 2027, India could face Pakistan as many as three times. If both India and Pakistan qualify for the Super 7s from Group A, they will face each other for the second time. If both teams then qualify for the semi-finals or final, they could meet for the third time.
In the previous 13 editions of the ODI World Cup, India have never faced Pakistan twice in the same edition.
