New Delhi, Jun 18 (PTI) The University of Delhi (DU) has improved its position in the QS World University Rankings 2027, climbing six places to secure the 322nd rank globally, according to a statement.
DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said the university moved up from 328th position in the 2026 rankings and retained its status as the highest-ranked Indian university. It university also maintained its seventh position among all higher education institutions in the country.
According to the QS World University Rankings 2027, 1,504 universities from 106 countries and territories were ranked from a pool of 8,808 institutions evaluated worldwide. A total of 52 Indian institutions featured in the rankings.
Sharing the achievement, Singh said the improvement
reflected the collective efforts of the university’s faculty members, students, researchers, staff, alumni and other stakeholders.
“The continued rise in our global standing, coupled with our position among India’s leading universities, demonstrates the strength of our academic ecosystem and our commitment to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, sustainability and societal engagement,” he said.
The university recorded improvements across several performance indicators. In the Citations per Faculty category, DU improved its ranking from 403 to 318, reflecting greater visibility and impact of its research output. In Sustainability, the university moved up from 297 to 240, while its Employer Reputation ranking improved from 319 to 304, it stated.
Among Indian institutions, DU ranked second in Employment Outcomes, fourth in Sustainability — up from sixth position last year — and fourth in International Research Network. It also retained its sixth position in Academic Reputation among Indian institutions, according to the statement.
The university said the rankings underscore DU’s growing global presence and its continued focus on enhancing academic quality, research output and international engagement. PTI SHB SHB MDO MDO
