Two girls killed in lightning strike in UP's Sonbhadra

(UP), May 3 (PTI) Two girls died and a boy was injured after they were struck by lightning while collecting mangoes under a tree in a village here, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred in Chauna village in the Babhani police station area on Saturday.

Station House Officer (SHO) Dinnu Prasad Yadav said mangoes fell from a tree during a storm on Saturday evening. Archana (9) and Astha (8) went to collect the mangoes and died on the spot after being struck by lightning.

Harsh (12) was standing at a short distance from the tree and sustained injuries. He is undergoing treatment at the Babhani community health centre, Yadav said.
