Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus, Ramayana Part 1, is one of the most-awaited films of 2026. Ever since the project was announced, the audience has been buzzing with excitement, speculating about the visual grandeur and how the epic story will be brought to life on the big screen. On April 2, the makers of the film released the first look of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. This 2.5-minute teaser immerses viewers into the majestic universe of the two-part epic, brought to life by director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra. Filmmakers Karan Johar and Siddharth Anand have now come forward and heaped praise on Ranbir and the entire team for the dreamy first glimpse.

Karan Johar and Siddharth Anand hail Ranbir Kapoor
A while ago, Siddharth, who is currently busy shooting King with Shah Rukh Khan, took to social media to praise Ranbir. He said that the actor has nailed it as Lord Rama, and called it “spectacular.” His tweet read, “SPECTACULAR! Ranbir has nailed it as Lord Rama for me. I cannot wait to celebrate Diwali this year with #Ramayana on the biggest screen! Nitesh sir your craft is just awe-inspiring. Namit you have done what you promised!”

Karan Johar, too, shared the teaser on his Instagram story and showered love on the Ramayana team. He wrote, “CANNOT WAIT!!!! Ranbir Kapoor embodies Lord Rama with divine reverence and piousness…his last turn on hearing his name was the pièce de résistance of this spectacular first look…..” Have a look:
Earlier, Alia Bhatt shared her reaction to the teaser before it was launched today. She said, “It’s just out of this world.” During a virtual interaction with her fans recently, she expressed her excitement. She told her fans, “Ramayana unit is going to be out tomorrow. It is the unit called the Rama unit. I’m going to be posting it on my social media, so again, please go out there and support it. It’s absolutely fabulous. I think Ranbir has just done such a beautiful job and I just can’t wait for you guys to see it.”
Meanwhile, Ramayana also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, while Yash takes on the role of Ravana and Ravie Dubey will portray Lakshman’s role. The first instalment is scheduled for Diwali 2026, with the sequel expected to hit theatres on Diwali 2027.
