Soon after Dhurandhar’s success, a scene from Akshay Kumar and Akshaye Khanna’s 2010 film Tees Maar Khan began circulating widely on social media. In the clip, Akshay’s conman-turned-fake-director character convinces Akshaye’s
superstar persona to work with him.
Fans jokingly credited Akshay for “discovering” Akshaye Khanna, thanking him for giving the country such a formidable actor. The meme quickly gained traction and soon caught Akshay Kumar’s attention.

Akshay Kumar Praises Dhurandhar
Akshay Kumar had earlier shared a heartfelt review of Dhurandhar after watching it in theatres. Taking to X on December 10, he wrote that he was “blown away” by the film’s gripping narrative and praised director Aditya Dhar for delivering a hard-hitting cinematic experience. He also expressed happiness over the overwhelming audience response.
Dhurandhar 2 Officially Announced
The makers have already confirmed a sequel titled Dhurandhar 2: Revenge. The film is slated for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026, and is set to clash with Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, making it one of the biggest box office face-offs of the year.
Dhurandhar OTT Release Details
While an official announcement is still awaited, Dhurandhar is expected to premiere on Netflix following its theatrical run. As per industry reports, Netflix has reportedly acquired the digital rights for both Dhurandhar films for approximately Rs 130 crore — around Rs 65 crore per part — making it one of the largest OTT deals of the year.
