A social media post featuring study material that lists Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Main Bhi Chowkidar” alongside slogans and quotes associated with prominent Indian leaders has sparked a debate on X.
The post features a video of a printed page identified as Chapter 56, titled “Freedom Fighter Quotes and Slogans”. The page carries names of several prominent historical and political figures along with quotes or slogans attributed to them.
The list includes freedom fighters and national leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singh, as well as political figures including Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rajendra Prasad and P.V. Narasimha Rao. Modi’s “Main Bhi Chowkidar” also appears on the list.
However, the material shown in the viral post is
not an official school textbook published by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), a state education board or another government body.
The printed page carries the name “SHIVANT SIR” at the bottom. The material has been identified as private Static GK study material intended for competitive-examination preparation.
The post has sparked mixed reactions on X (formerly Twitter).
One user criticised the inclusion of “Main Bhi Chowkidar” alongside slogans associated with freedom fighters, alleging that history was being rewritten.
Another user, however, pointed out that the material was produced by a coaching institute and argued that any factual error should be attributed to the publisher rather than the government.
Another post also highlighted the “SHIVANT SIR” marking at the bottom of the page and said the material was not an NCERT book.
