“Isn’t every day ‘daughter’s day’?” asks Shekhar Kapur. Like every other father in the world, he doesn’t need a special day to celebrate his daughter. Recently, the filmmaker revealed that he had been unknowingly living with a condition for decades and credited his daughter, Kaveri, for helping him discover that he is severely dyslexic.
Now, the Masoom director, known for his introspective and poetic reflections on life, penned a heartfelt note for his daughter and shared it on social media along with an adorable childhood picture of Kaveri Kapoor.
Shekhar Kapur Pens Heart Touching Note For Daughter Kaveri
In his Instagram post, Shekhar Kapur described how Kaveri gave his life deeper meaning and purpose. He wrote, “I was a kite being carried by
the storm. You arrived and gave me context. You’re the string that attached me to life. You earthed me. You give meaning to my life. I may express that in ways that may seem a bit crazy…but that’s me.”
He expressed how proud he is of Kaveri, adding, “I am so proud of you. I am proud of how you battle through life in your own special way… and honestly… and I say this honestly.”
He also acknowledged how much he has learned from Kaveri, describing her as “an old, ancient soul in such a young mind.” He wrote, “You brought more wisdom to me than I could ever give you… but I do worry about you. I worry that you are an old, ancient soul in such a young mind, a young body. I see that conflict in you all the time.”
Kapur further spoke about her sensitivity, creativity and inner strength. He added, “I see the spirit constantly rising in you… a spirit so ancient that it gets reflected in your poetry, your music, your words, your compassion for everything that is living, but also in your anxieties… and I keep hoping that phase of conflict between a young mind and an ancient soul will get resolved soon.”
The doting father drew a comparison between Kaveri and his younger self. He concluded the touching note, writing, “I cannot believe how different I was at your age… I was just plain silly compared to you, as you are now. I wish I had known you then… but perhaps I did? Love you @kaverikapur. P.S. I love this pic of yours… It’s girl power!”
