Cricket Uganda joined the bandwagon on X and replied to Iceland’s humorous post, suggesting that their withdrawal from the T20 World Cup would help the former, saying that Uganda players’ passports are warm and not ‘ice’, adding that they will bring the ‘bold kit’ across, which Iceland called flashy.
Iceland is known for their hilarious X posts and on Thursday, they said that with very less time remaining to prepare for the T20 World Cup, they won’t be able to replace Pakistan, who were reportedly contemplating boycotting the tournament.
Earlier, Bangladesh, who withdrew from the T20 World Cup due to political issues and security concerns in India, were replaced by Scotland at the last minute.
“Dear @ICC,
If a T20 World Cup seat opens, Uganda is
ready, packed and padded. Passports warm (not ice). No bakers leaving ovens or ships U-turning. Heat, noise, pressure? We’ll bring the bold kit,” Uganda Cricket tweeted on Thursday evening.

Iceland said that regardless of whether Pakistan withdraw, the tight timelines make it impossible for their side to prepare in a professional manner to compete at the T20 World Cup.
Iceland had joked that their captain, a professional baker, had ovens to tend to, their ship captain needed to steer his vessel and their bankers still had to go bankrupt before they could travel to India for the T20 World Cup.
Iceland also said that, despite being the most peaceful nation on Earth, they boast an ‘army’ of online followers and are the world’s 14th most-followed national cricket board on X.
