The much-awaited trailer of Ramayana finally dropped during the auspicious brahma muhurat, offering audiences their first extended look at Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious retelling of the epic. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Yash as Ravana, the trailer has sparked widespread discussion online. Among those praising it was National Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty, who reserved special appreciation for fellow Kannada star Yash.
Taking to X shortly after the trailer’s release, Rishab applauded the makers for recreating one of India’s most revered stories in a convincing manner while acknowledging the immense responsibility that comes with portraying such iconic characters.

Ramayana
Rishab noted that every generation has grown up imagining the characters of the Ramayana differently, making any adaptation a challenging task.
“It’s not easy to convince people with the stories and characters of our epics. We have all grown up listening to them, and each of us carries our own imagination of these timeless legends. Hats off to the team for creating such an incredibly convincing world,” he wrote, congratulating director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra.
The Kantara actor added that he understands the pressure actors face while stepping into legendary roles and felt the cast had lived up to the expectations. He also praised the film’s music, crediting composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer for elevating the emotional impact of the trailer.
‘No One Else Could Have Done Justice To Ravana’
Rishab singled out both Ranbir Kapoor and Yash for their performances but reserved his strongest words for the latter.
Addressing Ranbir, he wrote that the actor successfully conveyed “the aura and divinity of Rama.” Speaking about Yash, Rishab said every frame featuring the actor left him increasingly impressed.
“My eyes grew bigger and bigger with every shot of yours. I don’t think anyone else could have done justice to that character,” he wrote, adding that Yash continues to make Kannadigas proud.
Yash’s portrayal of Ravana has emerged as one of the biggest talking points following the trailer launch, with many viewers praising his commanding screen presence and intense look.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is planned as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the ancient epic. Besides Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey and Yash, the film also stars Sunny Deol, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor in pivotal roles.
Ramayana: Part One is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 8, coinciding with Diwali festivities. The second instalment is slated to arrive in 2027.
