The Kannada film industry has just witnessed one of its most-awaited releases of the year with Darshan’s high-octane action drama The Devil X, directed by Prakash Veer.
The film, which was released on December 11, has quickly become the centre of conversation among fans, critics and trade circles.
Strong Start at the Box Office
As per early estimates from Sacnilk, The Devil X delivered an impressive opening, collecting Rs 10 crore on Day 1 at the Indian box office. This strong debut positions the film among the notable Kannada openers of the year.
The movie registered an overall Kannada occupancy of 63.75 per cent on its first day. Morning shows saw 60.44 per cent occupancy, which dipped slightly to 51.74 per cent in the afternoon. The momentum
picked up again in the evening with 63.47 per cent, while night shows surged to a remarkable 79.34 per cent, reflecting solid audience turnout across regions.
Early-Day 2 Box Office Report
As per early trends, the movie collected around Rs 0.1 crore on Day 2, bringing its total earnings to Rs 10.01 crore thus far. Trade experts suggest that bigger jumps may occur over the weekend, especially with the absence of any major competing Kannada releases.
Mixed Yet Encouraging Early Reviews
With the film just entering theatres, social media platforms have exploded with fan reactions and reviews. The early verdict appears mixed but optimistic, with many praising the scale, action sequences and Darshan’s screen presence, while others express reservations about pacing and narrative depth. As more audiences begin catching shows, a clearer consensus is expected to form.
A Star-Studded Cast Fueling High Expectations
The Devil X features a robust ensemble cast, including Rachana Rai, Mahesh Manjrekar, Achyuth Kumar and Sharmiela Mandre, all of whom contribute to the film’s dramatic weight. The supporting lineup also includes well-known names like Tulasi, Shobhraj and Bigg Boss Kannada alum Gilli Nata, further enhancing the film’s appeal among diverse audience groups.
A Powerful Tale of Vengeance, Emotion and Triumph
Marketed by the makers as “A Saga of Power, Vengeance and True Love,” the film promises a gripping narrative driven by intense emotions, high stakes, and visually striking action. Produced by Shri Jaimatha Combines in collaboration with Saregama and Yoodlee Films, the project carries both cinematic ambition and star-driven momentum.
Future Box Office Prospects Look Promising
With no major Kannada films scheduled for release in the coming weeks, industry watchers believe The Devil X has a clear runway to grow its box office collections.
