Shilpa revealed that she does not share a close bond with her family anymore and has been living away from them. She also mentioned
that Karjat, which was once her second home, has now become her primary place of residence as she has almost moved away from Mumbai. “Log family family bolte hain, logon ke pass family nahi hoti aur mere pass family hoke bhi main anaath hoon. Main koi sympathy gain nahi kar rahi hoon. (People keep talking about family. Some people don’t have a family, but even though I have one, I feel like an orphan. I’m not saying this to gain sympathy),” said Shilpa.
She further opened up about an incident from around 3 years ago when she underwent shoulder surgery. She claimed that just a few days after the procedure, she was kicked out of her own house.
Shilpa Shinde On Being Forced To Leave Her Own House
“I had undergone shoulder surgery, and my brother was influenced by his wife. My mother, in turn, was influenced by my brother. On the fifth day after my surgery, I was forced to leave my own house. Now you’ll ask, ‘Were they really so bad that they threw you out?’ No, circumstances were created because they knew I am a woman with a lot of self-respect. I left the house at 11 pm that night. My mother didn’t stop me because she had come under my brother’s influence,” she recalled.
The ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain’ actress said being constantly available for people can sometimes lead to being taken for granted. She said she has felt like a “doormat” within her own family and that such experiences have changed the way she views relationships.
Shilpa Shinde Says She Stays In Hotels During Mumbai Visit
Shilpa revealed that when she stays in hotels during her visits to Mumbai, people often question why she does not stay at her own house. She said she usually avoids explaining her personal situation and tells people that she needs privacy due to guests at home.
The actress also claimed that she has decided to distance herself from her family and has even mentioned this in her will. She added that one of her biggest goals is to build a shelter home for people who need support, which is one of the reasons she chose to participate in Lock Upp 2.
“People ask me why I’m doing this show. The reason is that I want to build a shelter home, not just a home. That’s why I’m here. I don’t want anyone’s sympathy. This is simply who I am,” she said.
Shilpa further shared that while many people feel the pain of not having a family, it can be equally difficult to have a family and still feel emotionally disconnected from them. She said she has not met her mother for a long time, though she still wishes to see her. According to Shilpa, their conversations are limited to phone calls, and she feels circumstances have created a distance between them.
