In a major relief to commuters in Mumbai, a key land transfer has paved the way for the ambitious Dahisar–Bhayander coastal road project, which is expected to cut down the travel time between Nariman Point
and Mira-Bhayander to just 30 minutes.
Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced the development after the Union Salt Commissioner officially handed over 53.17 acres of salt land to the state. This land transfer removes one of the biggest roadblocks delaying the project.
According to a report in Times Now, The upcoming Dahisar–Bhayander highway will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 3,000 crore. The project will be constructed by L.E.T. Company and is slated for completion within three years. Minister Sarnaik had taken the proposal to both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, who have since given it the green light.
With the land now secured, the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation will move ahead with building a 60-metre-wide road. According to Sarnaik, the new route will start in Dahisar, pass through Bhayander, forming a key part of the larger Mumbai Coastal Road project.
The ambitious highway will connect with the ongoing Coastal Road being developed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), extending the corridor from Nariman Point to Uttan, and further linking suburban areas like Vasai and Virar.
