Jhansi (UP), Sep 29 (PTI) Three friends, aged around 20-22, drowned while bathing in a dam in the Babina area of Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district, police said on Tuesday.
Their bodies were found floating in the water of the Sukhuwa-Dhukhuwa dam on Tuesday morning, two days after they had gone missing, they said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Preeti Singh said the three friends had left on a motorcycle for a ride two days ago but did not return.
Missing-person reports had subsequently been registered at Sipri Bazar and Premnagar police stations.
“Three bodies were found floating in the dam water this morning. A motorcycle, clothes and two mobile phones were also recovered from nearby,” Singh said.
Prima facie, the three youths appear to
have drowned in the deep waters of the dam while bathing two days ago, she said.
The deceased were identified as Raj, Ritesh and Neeraj, their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination and an investigation is underway.
“Further legal action will be taken if any other facts come to light,” Singh said. PTI COR ABN SHS
