US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor on Saturday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the US greatly values its relationship with India. Gor arrived in New Delhi on Friday and met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar,
NSA Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
US Ambassador-designate to India, Sergio Gor, says, “It’s an honour and a privilege to be here today. We had a great series of meetings, including with Foreign Secretary Misri, with the External Affairs Minister, Dr Jaishankar, and with the National Security Advisor, Doval. And we just finished an incredible meeting with Prime Minister Modi, where we discussed bilateral issues, including defence, trade, and technology.”
“We also discussed the importance of critical minerals and the importance of that to both of our nations. The U.S. values its relationship with India, and under the strong leadership of President Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Modi, I’m optimistic about the days ahead for both of our nations,” he added.

Gor is appointed as the American Ambassador to India after confirmation by the US Senate. After the meeting, PM Modi said he was confident that India-US ties would further strengthen during his tenure.

Gor, who is on a six days visit to India, is accompanied by Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources Michael J Rigas.
