Hyderabad, Jun 3 (PTI) Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Wednesday said the revised land values would come into effect from June 5.
The decisIon was taken as per the state cabinet’s recent decision to rationalise land values, he said.
Reddy, in a statement, said the new land values have been determined after studying the gap between official rates and prevailing open market prices.
He alleged that the previous BRS government had increased the land value and also registration charges twice in a short period of six months in 2020-21 without conducting any comprehensive exercise.
This has resulted in major variation in land values in comparison with market prices, the minister added.
According to him, the decision to revise the values
was taken transparently and in consonance with actual market prices and by keeping people’s convenience in mind.
Srinivasa Reddy said last month the government would take a decision on “scientifically increasing” the land registration charges.
Economist Arvind Subramanian made some suggestions on the issue, he had said. PTI SJR SJR ROH
