'Great Interaction On Various Issues Including...': PM Narendra Modi Meets Mr. And Mrs. Chopra At LKM

The Honourable Prime Minister of the nation, Shri Narendra Modi, met with double Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra and his missus, Himani Mor, at the Lok Kalyan Marg on Tuesday.

“We had a great interaction on various issues including sports of course,” the update added.

Chopra enjoyed multiple highlight moments in the year, including his personal best as he breached the elusive 90m mark for the first time in his career.

Chopra shot to fame as he clinched India’s first Olympic gold in athletics at Tokyo 2020 before picking up a silver at the subsequent iteration of the quadrennial in Paris 2024.

Neeraj made history by becoming India’s first senior athletics world champion with a gold medal at the Budapest 2023 World Championships, after earning a silver at Oregon 2022, ending the country’s 19-year medal drought at the World Championships. The Indian athlete has also won titles at the Asian Games in 2018 and 2023, the Commonwealth Games in 2018, the Asian Athletics Championships in 2017, and the Diamond League.

Chopra registered his personal best of 90.23 metres at the Doha Diamond League, which remains the national record. In October, Neeraj Chopra received the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army. The 27-year-old athlete was presented with the insignia at a ceremony in New Delhi in recognition of his outstanding achievements in sports. Although his official appointment to the rank was on April 16, the pipping ceremony occurred on October 22.
