Farhan Akhtar’s much-anticipated military drama 120 Bahadur, which chronicles the historic Battle of Rezang La fought by the 13 Kumaon Regiment, is struggling to maintain its box-office momentum after
a promising opening weekend. Released on November 21, the film marked Akhtar’s return to the big screen as Param Vir Chakra awardee Major Shaitan Singh Bhati. Despite high expectations, the movie experienced a steep decline in weekday collections.
Despite earning praise for its hard-hitting dialogues, emotional depth, and powerful performances, the film is struggling to maintain momentum after a modest opening. According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, 120 Bahadur collected just Rs 1 crore on Day 6, marking its lowest single-day collection since release. With this, the film’s total box office earnings now stand at Rs 14 crore.
120 Bahadur Box Office Collection
The film opened with a collection of Rs 2.25 crore, followed by a significant 71% jump on Day 2, bringing in Rs 3.85 crore. Day 3 saw further growth, with 120 Bahadur earning Rs 4 crore. However, the momentum sharply reversed at the start of the week, with collections dropping to Rs 1.4 crore and Rs 1.5 crore on Days 5 and 6, respectively.
On Wednesday, the film registered an overall occupancy of 6.41 per cent. Morning shows had a total footfall of about 3.99 per cent, and afternoon shows had 5.93 per cent. Night shows had the highest footfall at 8.81 per cent, followed by evening shows at 6.89 per cent.
Everything About 120 Bahadur
Helmed by Razneesh Ghai and backed by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banners of Excel Entertainment and Trigger Happy Studios, the military drama is set during the 1962 Indo-China conflict. 120 Bahadur traces the courageous journey of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC and the valiant soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought the Battle of Rezang La on November 18, 1962.
Alongside Akhtar, Raashii Khanna plays the female lead in the film. The film was shot in several locations, including Rajasthan, Ladakh and Mumbai, capturing the rugged terrains central to its narrative.
120 Bahadur’s Box Office Clash
The film’s performance may have been impacted by its box-office clash with the comedy film Mastiii 4, starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani. While its overall earnings remain lower than 120 Bahadur, Mastiii 4 has been marginally ahead during the weekdays. On Wednesday, early estimates by Sacnilk showed Mastiii 4 earned Rs 1.15 crore, overtaking 120 Bahadur by a small margin.
With the weekend ahead, 120 Bahadur now faces a crucial test to regain its momentum at the box office.
