Ballia (UP), Jun 28 (PTI) Six police personnel have been suspended here for allegedly being involved in cattle trade by colluding with smugglers, a senior police officer said on Sunday.
The suspensions were ordered on Saturday following a preliminary inquiry into their alleged involvement with cattle smugglers, Ballia Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh said.
The suspended policemen include constables Mukesh Kumar, Rinku Gupta and Aman Singh, posted at Ballia Kotwali police station, and head constables Manoj Kumar and Dinesh Vishwakarma and constable Alok Singh, posted at Dubhar police station.
According to the SP, vehicles used by suspected cattle smugglers were intercepted in recent days. During the operation, the activities of some police personnel
appeared suspicious, and subsequent questioning of the arrested smugglers allegedly revealed their collusion with the accused policemen.
“Departmental proceedings have been initiated against the suspended personnel after their alleged involvement in cattle smuggling came to light,” Singh said.
The SP added that around a month ago, 17 police personnel had been attached to the police lines following complaints of alleged links with cattle smugglers. PTI COR CDN SKY SKY
