Multiple vehicles were involved in two major pile-ups on fog-hit highways in Haryana early on Sunday, after dense fog sharply reduced visibility across the state. In Hisar, a chain collision took place around 8 am at Dhiktana Moda on National Highway 52, where two Haryana roadways buses, a dumper truck, a car and a motorcycle crashed in succession.
According to NDTV, the incident began when a Kaithal roadways bus rammed into a dumper truck, following which another state transport bus coming from behind crashed into the vehicles already involved.
A car and then a motorcycle also ended up in the pile-up as visibility remained extremely poor. Hundreds of passengers were caught up in the crash, but officials said most escaped without injury; only
the motorcycle rider was hurt and taken to the hospital.
In a separate accident on National Highway 352 in Rewari, three to four buses collided due to low visibility, causing another significant pile-up. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Haryana has been in the grip of a severe cold wave over the past few days, with minimum temperatures hovering between 4°C and 6°C in many districts, contributing to persistent dense fog and hazardous driving conditions.
