Music director Leslie Lewis created the hit song Paree Hoon Main in the 1990s and it quickly became a favourite during Navratri celebrations. Thanks to Falguni Pathak, the track is still loved by people in India and around the world. But the song’s fame was not limited to Indian fans. Recently, Lewis revealed that Michael Jackson was a fan too and wanted to use the track’s beats in one of his songs. After the release of Paree Hoon Main, Jackson’s team reached out to Lewis, as the King of Pop wanted to use the beat.
During the time, Lewis explained that the beats were part of a mixed track and could not be separated, so it was impossible to share them. Even though Jackson’s team tried to convince him, it was an impossible task. Lewis shared that today,
they could have used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to extract those beats.
When Michael Jackson Wanted Paree Hoon Main’s Beats
Taking to Instagram, Leslie Lewis said, “Thank you so much for all the love and all the likes on Paree Hoon Main. I’m glad that everyone still loves the song from the ’90s. I recorded it in 1990 and I released it in January 1991. I’m so happy it gets played all over the world for nine days every year. It’s a very special feeling. But there’s a story behind Paree Hoon Main.”
“So I got, after I released Paree Hoon Main, a call from Michael Jackson’s office, saying, ‘Can we have the beats of Paree Hoon Main? Michael would love to use it in his song.’ So I said, ‘We’ve got all these multi-tracks, so beats are all mixed up already in the mix track. I don’t have a separate Beats track.’ They replied, ‘So can you try, please, because Michael really loves this song.’ He then said, ‘There’s no way I don’t have it and that is the sad truth that I could not give the beats of Paree Hoon Main to Michael,” the music director explained.
Leslie Lewis further shared, “This happened just before his Black or White album. During that time, AI was not there. So today, with Al, we can extract the beats, but that time I couldn’t do it. Just imagine the rhythm and what do you think Michael Jackson might have done with it? I don’t know, maybe you have an idea but its a very very special story I thought all you lovers of Paree Hoon Main should know that this happened in the 90s and Michael Jackson actually asked for the beats of Paree Hoon Main and unfortunately I couldn’t give it but I’m so happy that you guys love Paree Hoon Main and it’s played everywhere all the time.”

How Did The Internet React To This
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Proud moment to get a call from the master of beats, MJ. The whole world was referencing from him and he referred your work.”
Another shared, “What a privilege. It’s a kind of song done beautifully on one kind of beat pattern! Even a missed opportunity is a gift from God Almighty! Here’s wishing you make man songs like Pari, and particularly the same beat pattern?”
“I still feel Suneeta Rao did full justice to the track. She gave her 150/100!! The music is matchless for sure,” a comment read.
One more added, “Some credit goes to Falguni Pathak for keeping the song alive for 35 long years, some people might have even forgotten who has sung it originally, but whenever they think about the song, they think about Falguni.”
About Paree Hoon Main
Although Falguni Pathak made Paree Hoon Main a household name over the years, the song was originally sung by Suneeta Rao, known for other hits like Kesariya, Ab Ke Baras, O Re Kanchi and Duniya Hasino Ka Mela, among others.
