Ranchi, Jun 27 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar on Saturday asked district election officers (DEOs) to step up awareness campaigns on the SIR of electoral rolls through social media ahead of the month-long exercise beginning June 30.
During the SIR exercise, booth-level officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to help voters complete enumeration forms.
Kumar issued the directions during an online meeting with DEOs-cum-deputy commissioners and officials of the education and information and public relations departments to review preparations and discuss ways to raise awareness about the revision exercise.
“All Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) must participate in the #JharkhandSIR campaign on June 30, and all district-level
social media handles must ensure the widespread sharing of publicity materials under this hashtag campaign. This will help in reaching the maximum number of voters with information about the SIR,” Kumar said.
He said voters whose details could not be mapped with the electoral rolls prepared during the previous SIR could provide the required information to their BLOs while filling out the enumeration forms to complete the mapping process.
According to a press release by the CEO’s office, the draft electoral rolls will be published on August 5, while claims and objections can be filed from August 5 to September 4.
The publication of the final electoral rolls has been scheduled for October 7, following the disposal of claims and objections, it said. PTI SAN SAN MNB
