Chandigarh, Jun 7 (PTI) Almost one lakh voters were mapped on Sunday during one-day special camps organised across Punjab under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, said Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra.
With this, voter mapping across the state has crossed 85 per cent, Mitra said.
For smooth and transparent SIR across the state, special camps were organized at all 24,453 polling booths across the 117 assembly constituencies.
βIn an overwhelming response during the camps, almost one lakh voters were mapped in one day,β Mitra said in a statement.
During this mapping, the SIR conducted in Punjab in 2003 is being used as a basis for matching with the current voter lists.
Under the SIR exercise, Booth Level Officers
(BLOs) will undertake door-to-door visits across Punjab from June 25 to July 24 for filling voter verification forms. PTI CHS KVK KVK
