Suriya 47: Director Jithu Madhavan Responds To Expectations Over Actor’s Rumoured Cop Avatar

Suriya is currently grabbing attention for his next film, tentatively titled Suriya 47. Recently, director Jithu Madhavan has addressed the growing expectations surrounding his role in the film. The project has generated considerable buzz among fans, particularly due to reports suggesting that Suriya may be portraying a police officer in the film. Given the actor’s popularity and his previous performances in similar roles, discussions around audience expectations have continued to gain momentum. Reacting to this, he mentioned that he and his team are approaching the film without any pressure despite the attention surrounding it.

Speaking recently to Behindwoods, Jithu also addressed expectations surrounding Suriya’s role in the film, which is

believed to feature the actor as a police officer. He said “I take no pressure in portraying Suriya sir as a cop, and neither does my team. We are cool about the subject,” he added.

Mohanlal’s Cameo In Suriya47?

Speculation surrounding Suriya47 has been gaining momentum over the past few days, with reports suggesting that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal could be making a special cameo appearance in the highly anticipated project. In a recent media interaction, as quoted by Dinamalar, Jithu Madhavan denied Mohanlal’s involvement in the project. The filmmaker said, “We haven’t even released a poster from the film. No, Lalettan is not part of the film.”

When asked whether a song from an older Mohanlal film would be used for an action sequence, the director chose not to comment. He further added, “We still have some shooting left for the film. More updates will come at the right time.”

Earlier, in an interview with Asianet, Naslen actor confirmed that the movie is expected to be completed by the end of June 2026. The actor said, “Suriya47 shooting is currently underway and will continue until the end of June. We are enjoying the filmmaking process. Suriya sir complimented my Tamil, saying it was good. He is a very good human being and very humble. In many moments, I was awestruck thinking, ‘Am I really with Suriya sir?’ I’ve been watching him since childhood; he’s my favourite artist.”

Suriya 47 Will Be A Proper Tamil Film

Speaking to reporters during a recent airport interaction, the director confirmed that the film will firmly cater to Tamil audiences. “The shoot for Suriya 47 is ongoing, and updates will be made officially. It will be a proper Tamil film.” The project marks Suriya’s collaboration with Madhavan, best known for directing Aavesham. The upcoming entertainer is described as an action-comedy, with Suriya reportedly playing an eccentric police officer who leads a team of equally unconventional members. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they are assigned a serious case, forming the core of the narrative.

The film will feature Nazriya Nazim as the female lead, while Naslen is expected to play a pivotal role. Music for the film will be composed by Sushin Shyam, marking his debut in Tamil cinema.
