Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday on Thursday is being marked with a series of celebrations and public programmes across the country, including large-scale diya-lighting events.
In Assam, a portrait of PM Modi was created using diyas at the Hindu Vaishvik Kshetra in Tezpur. According to the information shared from the event, around 5,000 diyas were used to illuminate the portrait, with prayers for PM Modi’s good health and long life.
The celebration is part of the wider ‘Ashirbad Diwa’ initiative in Assam. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to people across the state to light earthen lamps or candles at their homes, temples, satras, naamghars and public places.
88 Lakh Diyas Planned Across Gujarat
Gujarat is witnessing one of the biggest diya-lighting programmes,
with more than 88 lakh earthen lamps planned across over 18,500 locations. In Ahmedabad, 1.25 lakh diyas are scheduled to be lit at Kankaria Lakefront, while another 76,000 lamps will illuminate Atal Bridge.
1.25 Lakh Diyas In Delhi
In Delhi, 1.25 lakh diyas are being lit at Kartavya Path as part of the celebrations. Residents have also been encouraged to light an ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ at home between 6 pm and 7 pm.
‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ Across India
The BJP’s ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative is being organised at more than 500 prominent locations across the country, alongside the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’.
