Pooja Bedi has laughed off an old rumour suggesting that she and Aamir Khan were attracted to each other while working on Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. The actress, however, recalled another film with Aamir where an intimate scene left her briefly wondering what to expect after the cameras stopped rolling.
Pooja Bedi Dismisses Aamir Khan Dating Rumour
Directed by Mansoor Khan, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar released in 1992 and went on to become one of Hindi cinema’s most loved coming-of-age films. Apart from Aamir and Pooja, the film starred Ayesha Jhulka, Deepak Tijori and Mamik Singh.
Years later, Pooja was asked about speculation that she and Aamir had developed an attraction towards each other during the film. Her response was immediate.
“You got to be kidding
me,” she told Vickey Lalwani, laughing away the suggestion.
Pooja then went on to share a very different memory involving Aamir from Aatank Hi Aatank. She had a cameo in the film and revealed that the two had shot what she described as a “passionate love making” sequence. The scene, however, never made it to the final film.
Pooja Recalls Being Alone In Room With Aamir
The actress said the sequence was filmed at a bungalow near Mumbai’s Film City. Unlike today, when actors usually return to their vanity vans between shots, Pooja recalled that the arrangements on sets were different at the time.
After completing the intimate sequence, she and Aamir were asked to wait together in a room that had a bed. Being a young actress then, Pooja admitted that the situation made her nervous.
“A million thoughts are going through your head,” she recalled, adding that stories she had heard about Bollywood made her wonder whether she should be worried about what might happen next.
With the door shut and both actors sitting silently, Pooja said she became increasingly confused and fearful.
Aamir Khan’s Chess Question Put Her At Ease
The awkward silence eventually ended in a way she hadn’t anticipated. According to Pooja, Aamir simply looked at her and asked, “Want to play chess?”
It instantly eased her concerns. Since the two already played chess together frequently, Pooja happily agreed and asked for a chess set to be brought in.
Looking back, she said the interaction left her relieved about the kind of colleague Aamir was. Calling him a “decent guy” and a “good man”, Pooja added, “He was not one of those dirty co-stars.”
Pooja was most recently seen in the Netflix series Masaba Masaba.
