India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana added another feather in her cap on Sunday, becoming only the 4th women batter in international cricket to go past 10,000 runs. The left-hander achieved the feat during
the fourth T20I against Sri Lanka at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram after the hosts were asked to bat first.
India had a terrific as Mandhana and her opening partner, Shafali Verma, went all guns blazing against Sri Lanka. They added 61 runs in the powerplay, also bringing up their 24th fifty stand – most in women’s T20Is for any wicket.

Came the 7th over when Mandhana picked up a quick single left-arm spinner Nimasha Madushani, completing 10,000 runs in international cricket. She now joins the elite list of players, including former India captain Mithali Raj, New Zealand’s Suzie Bates, and former England captain Charlotte Edwards, with more than 10k runs to their credit in women’s international cricket.

The 29-year-old also became the fastest to 10,000 international runs in women’s cricket. She needed 28 runs in her 281st innings to reach this remarkable milestone. She surpassed Mithali, who took 291 innings to reach this feat.

Mandhana, who had been failing to convert her starts into big scores so far, went on to notch her 32nd half-century in women’s T20Is. She reached the milestone boundary off Rashmika Sewwandi in the 12th over, going down the ground and lofting the ball over mid-off.
Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and chose to field against India in the fourth Women’s T20I on Sunday.
With India leading the series 3–0, both teams made two changes. Harleen Deol and Arundhati Reddy came in for India, while Sri Lanka brought in Kawya Kavindi and Rashmika Sewwandi.
