Jantar Mantar Protest End: Delhi Metro Commuters, Here's An Important Update Before You Travel

If you’re planning to travel by Delhi Metro today, here’s some good news. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Sunday announced that all Metro stations across the national capital have resumed normal operations, with both entry and exit services restored after temporary restrictions imposed due to heightened security during the NEET paper leak protests.

In an update posted on X, the DMRC said, “All stations of the Delhi Metro network are open (both entry and exit) for passenger services,” confirming that regular services have been fully restored across the network.

The restrictions

were enforced over the weekend as security agencies tightened arrangements around Central Delhi, particularly near Jantar Mantar, where thousands of students and aspirants gathered to protest against the alleged NEET paper leak and demand accountability from the Centre.

At the height of the security measures on Saturday, the DMRC had temporarily restricted passenger movement at 18 Metro stations, including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Janpath, Mandi House, Patel Chowk, ITO, New Delhi, Khan Market, Lok Kalyan Marg, Delhi Gate, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court and several others. Entry and exit gates at these stations were either partially or completely shut to facilitate crowd management and ensure public safety.

As the security situation improved, the Metro operator began restoring services in phases. Entry gates at Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House and Janpath were reopened on Saturday evening before the remaining stations resumed normal operations on Sunday.

The restoration of Metro services came shortly after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned amid nationwide protests over the examination controversy. In his resignation statement, Pradhan said he stepped down to safeguard students’ interests and ensure that the agitation was not exploited by “anti-national forces.”

With all restrictions now lifted, Delhi Metro services are operating normally across the network, bringing relief to lakhs of daily commuters after two days of disruption caused by security arrangements linked to the protests.
