Hours after Harry Brook emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Ben Stokes as England’s Test skipper, Iceland Cricket took a savage swipe at the batter in a post on X on Tuesday.
In a post that went viral, Iceland Cricket joked that if Brook took charge of England across all three formats, the team’s itinerary would revolve around ‘nightclubs, beaches and police stations’.
Brook said on Tuesday that it would be a ‘great honour’ to succeed Stokes as England’s Test skipper, even if it meant leading the team across all three formats.
“Harry Brook ready to lead England in all three formats. That’s nightclubs, beaches, and police stations,” Iceland Cricket tweeted on Tuesday night.

As per reports, Brook was involved in a physical altercation outside a nightclub in Wellington in late 2025, just hours before England’s third ODI against New Zealand.
Brook said that he would have no hesitation in succeeding Stokes, revealing that the outgoing captain gave him his ‘100% support’ for the Test leadership during his final press conference in charge.
“It isn’t up to me, but if I were offered it, then I would be happy to take it. I don’t know yet (if it will happen), but it would be a great honour to do it. It would be a privilege to captain England in the highest format of our game and the pinnacle,” Brook said in the pre-match press conference.
He would lead England in the first of five T20Is against India on Wednesday at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street.
“Playing Tests is the greatest thing I have ever done in my life and it is a dream, something I have always wanted to do since I could speak,” Brook said.
Head coach Brendon McCullum, who oversees both England’s red- and white-ball teams, said on Monday that the selectors wouldn’t rush the decision on Stokes’ successor, with more than a month remaining before England’s next Test against Pakistan at Brook’s home ground of Headingley.
