Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Indian Premier League (IPL) champions of the 2012, 2014, and 2024 seasons, find themselves in a bit of a pickle in the first quarter of the ongoing 2026 IPL season. A glance at the points table (so far) shows that the Kolkata-based franchise, led by Ajinkya Rahane, is yet to find its winning ways after 6 matches thus far. Although KKR have gotten off the mark and earned a sole point thanks to a washed-out game against Punjab Kings (PBKS), there is not much in the camp to celebrate about, and the dismayed faces of the loyal franchise supporters match after match pretty much sum up the team’s bottom position on the table.
The IPL bystanders on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) have used the opportunity
to engage in some healthy banter and lighten the mood with memes as the dull Kolkata Knight Riders hope to find their footing in the upcoming matches in their roster.
But before we get to that, here’s a quick recap on KKR’s journey so far in the IPL 2026.
Match 1: MI vs KKR
KKR posted a formidable score of 220/4 in their IPL 2026 opener against the Mumbai Indians (MI). However, it wasn’t enough for the visitors playing at Wankhede Stadium as MI were propelled by Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton’s superb half-centuries, helping the home team achieve the target with 6 wickets and 5 deliveries to spare.
Match 2: KKR vs SRH
Facing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their second outing, KKR were outplayed by SRH batters who posted a towering 226/8 in their 20 overs. Heinrich Klaasen’s 52, Travis Head, and Abhishek Sharma provided quick starts with knocks of 46 and 48, respectively, helping the team to an intimidating target. KKR, in their response, were bundled out for 161. Nitish Kumar Reddy’s all-round effort 2/17 (2) & 39 (24) earned him the Player of the Match award.

Match 3: KKR vs PBKS
A washout at the Eden Gardens. Both teams were awarded a single point.
Match 4: KKR vs LSG
After registering two consecutive losses, KKR were left bamboozled by a late Mukul Choudhary show, an onslaught that stunned the crowd, commentators, and online spectators alike. With 54 needed off 24 balls and only three wickets in hand, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were pretty much written off before Choudhary took it upon himself to thump an unbeaten 54 off just 27 balls, helping LSG reach KKR’s target of 182 on the very last delivery bowled at the Eden Gardens.
Match 5: CSK vs KKR
Batting first, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got off to a solid start with Sanju Samson (48). Ayush Mhatre then joined Samson and raced to 38, slamming six fours and two sixes to power CSK to 72 in the powerplay. The Men in Yellow posted 192/5 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. KKR’s run chase was an uninspiring one, one that was marred by Noor Ahmed, who scalped 3/21 (4 overs).
Ahmed first dismissed captain Rahane for 28 before sending Cam Green back for a golden duck, and returned to scalp Rinku Singh for just 6 off 12 deliveries. The Afghan spinner earned the Player of the Match award for his efforts as KKR could only muster 160/7 in their reply.

Match 6: GT vs KKR
Friday night, KKR locked horns with the Gujarat Titans (GT). GT bowled out KKR for 180 runs before reaching the target with 2 balls to spare, riding on Shubman Gill’s sublime half-century (86 off 50). GT captain Gill took home the Player of the Match award as KKR registered yet another disappointing loss in IPL 2026.
