Lucknow, Jun 20 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh completed the first phase of Census 2027, with the house-listing and housing census exercise achieving 100 per cent completion between May 22 and June 20, according to an official statement issued on Saturday.
According to the Directorate of Census Operations, Uttar Pradesh, the exercise was carried out across all administrative units of the state, including 75 districts, 350 tehsils, 17 municipal corporations, 200 municipal councils, 545 nagar panchayats, 13 cantonment boards and eight industrial townships.
Around five lakh enumerators and supervisors participated in the exercise, the statement said.
The directorate expressed gratitude to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary and the Registrar General and Census
Commissioner of India for their guidance and leadership in carrying out the campaign; officials described the exercise as a historic achievement.
It also acknowledged the contributions of various state government departments, district magistrates, municipal commissioners, district census officers, charge officers and other government personnel in completing the exercise. PTI CDN ASD ASD
