In a disturbing incident highlighting civic negligence in Bengaluru, a Class 4 student fell into an open stormwater drain in Govindapura, Sarvajna Nagar.
The incident occurred right in front of the school, where construction work was being carried out without basic safety precautions.
With no barricades or warning signs in place, the child was forced to walk along the side of the road to reach school and fell into an uncovered drain where the slab had been left open.
The child was quickly rescued by people nearby and, fortunately, escaped without any injuries.
The incident comes less than a week after a child lost his life due to Water Board negligence, raising serious concerns over continued carelessness by civic agencies, including the GBA.
Residents
say slow and unsafe construction work has turned daily movement into a risk, leaving children and the public at the mercy of unchecked infrastructure projects.
