Fights between cab drivers and customers are nothing new. However, a shocking incident from Gurugram has drawn attention, where a woman reportedly refused to pay her Uber fare, blaming the driver for delaying the ride.
A video went viral on social media showing a heated argument between the driver and a woman, both of them recording the argument on their phones. The woman was heard saying that she would speak to Uber, believing that the delay was intentional.
In response, the guy said the woman was late due to her own fault, and alleged that she was refusing to pay the entire money for two minutes of traffic. “You were late. It was just 2 minutes of traffic. It is not my fault. You are running away with my Rs 300. You are being disrespectful,”
he said.
The woman instead blamed him for intentionally delaying the ride by fighting with a bus driver, and proceeded to angrily storm off to her workplace, ignoring the driver’s pleas. “You can’t even afford to pay 300 rupees, and you think you’re fit to sit in a cab? If you don’t end up losing 3 lakhs instead of just 300, then my name isn’t Ram,” he said.

The video went viral on social media, with many users criticising the woman for harassing the driver. Some pointed out her expensive dress and mobile phone, uet her inability to pay Rs 300.
“This one really sums up modern city life — cameras out, empathy gone. That driver was just doing his job, yet gets humiliated over a Rs 300 fare because of traffic — in Gurgaon, no less. People forget these gig workers face endless waits, fuel hikes, and low pay,” a user said.
“Btw she uses 110k phone Galaxy S24 ultra. It’s not a money issue, some people are just heartless,” another person said. A third person wrote, “She wanted to talk to Uber? Talk to your conscience first! Drivers aren’t punching bags for your privilege.”
A user appeared to defend the woman, saying, “I had two such experiences years back with Uber auto where the delay was really intentional. The driver took a long detour despite other shorter routes.”
“Without knowing the full facts, it’s not advisable to judge that the driver is absolutely correct because he is a Cab driver! He is shouting and taking names… isn’t there any other mechanism by Uber to handle such disputes??” another individual commented.
