Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) summoned Noreen Niazi, sister of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, over alleged dissemination of “false, offensive and inflammatory” social media content targeting the country’s military and state institutions, according to an official summons accessed by CNN-News18. The NCCIA has directed Niazi to appear before its Cyber Crime Reporting Centre in Islamabad on Monday to record her statement in the enquiry.
The notice, issued by the Cyber Crime Reporting Centre in Islamabad and dated July 18, directs Niazi to appear before the agency at 12 pm on July 20 in connection with an enquiry registered as RE-2031/2026.
According to the notice, the NCCIA has alleged that Niazi “disseminated
false, offensive and inflammatory social media content to defame State institutions and spread fake narratives.” It also warns that failure to appear could invite penal action under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The summons comes after Niazi made a series of controversial public remarks against Pakistan’s military establishment, Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and the country’s handling of Operation Sindoor.
Among her most striking claims, Niazi said Pakistan’s Army could not defeat the Indian military, asserting that India’s armed forces were “four times stronger” than Pakistan’s. She also claimed Pakistan had lost last year’s conflict with India during Operation Sindoor and accused the military establishment of fabricating narratives around the operation.
Niazi further alleged that US President Donald Trump had provided Pakistan’s military with a conditional “face-saving” intervention during the crisis and claimed Islamabad was preparing to recognise Israel under commitments allegedly made to Trump to eventually join the Abraham Accords. According to Niazi, that process was delayed because of the Iran war.
She also alleged that Trump intended to use Pakistan’s military to advance broader regional objectives.
CNN-News18 had earlier reported remarks by another of Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan, in which she praised India and described India’s outcome in Operation Sindoor favourably.
According to top intelligence sources, the developments reflect what they described as “insider panic narratives” within Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.
The sources said these narratives amount to confirmation of the overwhelming success of Operation Sindoor, asserting that India’s 2025 standalone missile strikes and rapid establishment of air superiority effectively achieved their deterrence objectives.
According to the sources, the operation pushed Islamabad into a defensive position within 88 hours, with India emerging as the clear winner.
