An almost unbelievable sight left people stunned in Kerala’s Kannur district when a Maruti Suzuki Dzire ended up wedged between two sections of an under-construction bridge. The car was stuck in a downward
position.
The visuals that emerged from the spot showed how narrowly a major tragedy was avoided. The car had slipped right into the gap between two unfinished segments of the flyover at the Kannur Chala intersection. The driver, identified as Lasim from Malappuram, was reportedly drunk at the time of the incident.
How The Car Ended Up Wedged Between Two Sections
According to a report in Free Press Journal, the incident took place on November 16 when the vehicle was travelling from Thalassery towards Kannur. It crossed the barricade that had been placed to mark the construction zone.
One of the videos, shared by Puthiya Thalaimurai TV on X (formerly Twitter), from the spot captured the moment the car was found wedged vertically between the two concrete sections. The front end had slipped straight into the opening that caused the entire vehicle to lean downwards until it got locked in a narrow space.

With help from locals, the driver managed to escape before the vehicle could slide any further. Authorities later shared that he did not sustain major injuries.
The Dramatic Rescue That Followed
Another clip from the spot captured the rescue operation. A crane was brought in to lift the vehicle out of the narrow gap. The car was finally pulled out.

What People Said Online
While the situation was alarming, social media still found a way to add humour to the conversation.
Under the circulating videos, comments such as “India is not for beginners,” “Vertical parking,” “There’s a reason why it’s called a ‘flyover’” and “Great driving skill” started appearing.
A comment had an interesting observation, “He just escaped from the dreaded Final Destination climax.”
A Similar Case From Uttar Pradesh
This wasn’t the first time a car had landed in trouble on an incomplete flyover. In June, a similar case from Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh drew attention when a vehicle went over an unfinished stretch. As the car moved ahead, it reached the point where work was still in progress, lost balance and toppled forward. It ended up stuck in a slanted position because a mound of mud prevented it from falling further.
