Indore, Sep 9 (PTI) Gelatin sticks and a detonating fuse roll weighing nearly 300 kg were stolen from a private company’s warehouse near the Mhow military cantonment in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, police said on Wednesday.
A 15-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the incident, an official said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Umakant Chaudhary told reporters that unidentified miscreants broke the window grill of a private firm’s explosives warehouse within the jurisdiction of the Badgonda police station on the night of September 6 -7.
The intruders allegedly stole gelatin sticks and a 375-meter-long roll of detonating fuse, which is used to trigger explosions remotely, weighing about 300 kg.
He said that
the licence for the private establishment has been taken since 2014, and the explosive material kept there is used in construction and works like digging wells.
The DSP said 13 boxes of blasting material were stolen from the warehouse, but one of the boxes was found lying in the bushes nearby.
He said that the theft of explosives is a very serious matter and that the police have registered a case and are searching for the accused. An SIT has been formed to probe the matter, he added. PTI HWP MAS NR
