Bangladesh’s regular skipper Litton Das sustained a back strain during training and did not play against India in their Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Bangladesh haven’t appointed a vice-captain for the tournament, and Jaker Ali took over as captain for the clash and won the toss, opting to bowl first.

“He got injured during a practice session and unfortunately, he misses out on this crucial game,” Jaker Ali said when asked about Litton.
Ahead of the toss, Litton had briefly spoken with the Bangladesh physio Bayzid ul Islam and then went inside without performing any stretching or warmups.
The Bangladesh captain had shown some signs of discomfort
on the left side of his waist while attempting a square cut in the nets and withdrew from the session after being assessed by the physio at the ICC Academy Ground on Monday.
As for the gam, Jaker Ali said: “I am excited and looking forward to this game. We are doing really well as a team and we will try to give our best.”
What Does Missing Litton Das Mean For Bangladesh?
The Tigers began the tournament sluggishly and barely managed to progress through the group stage. However, they displayed their finest performance by defeating Sri Lanka in the first Super Four encounter.
Litton is regarded as a pivotal leader and is crucial at the top of the batting order, especially against slightly outmatched teams like India.
Furthermore, there is no break between Bangladesh’s Super Four matches against India and Pakistan. Bangladesh will face the Men in Green, their staunch rivals, on Thursday. This means that if Litton is unavailable for a few days, significant changes, including a different captain and opener, will be necessary for these challenging matches.
Bangladesh must win at least one of these games to have a chance at qualifying for the tournament final.
