Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill and his fellow opener Sai Sudharsan on Saturday, April 9, became the third pair in the history of the Indian Premier League to bring up their sixth century partnership for the opening wicket, matching the feats of David Warner-Shikhar Dhawan and Abhishek Sharma-Travis Head.
The Gujarat Titans‘ opening duo once again provided a rock-solid start, piling further misery on the Rajasthan Royals bowlers with another hundred-run partnership.
The pair raced to a 100-run stand in under nine overs, dominating the Rajasthan Royals bowling attack.
With that partnership, Gill and Sudharsan equalled the record for the most 100-run stands for the opening wicket in IPL history.
The Gujarat Titans duo now have six 100-plus opening
partnerships together, equalling the record set by iconic Sunrisers Hyderabad pairs David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan, as well as Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head.
Only a handful of iconic IPL opening pairs feature on that elite list.
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow recorded five 100-run opening stands for Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli also notched up five 100-run opening partnerships for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
