Nagaon (Assam) [India], November 15 (ANI): An earthquake of magnitude 2.9 hit Nagaon district of Assam on Friday at 11:04 IST, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported. According to the NCS, the earthquake occurred
at a depth of 10 km. “EQ of M: 2.9, On: 14/11/2025 23:04:07 IST, Lat: 26.47 N, Long: 92.75 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Nagaon, Assam,” the NCS said in a post on X. https://x.com/NCS_Earthquake/status/1989388863031448021?s=20 Shallow earthquakes are generally more dangerous than deep earthquakes. This is because the seismic waves from shallow earthquakes have a shorter distance to travel to the surface, resulting in stronger ground shaking and potentially more damage to structures, as well as greater casualties.
