Shahana Goswami has spoken about her love story with her former beau, Milind Soman. In a recent interview, she revealed how she was smitten by him after she watched his film for the first time when she was just 17. The Ra.One actress also shared how she went from stalking Milind to dating him. During the conversation, Shahana also revealed why they decided to part ways despite being in love with each other.
While speaking to Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Shahana Goswami revealed that she was “mesmerised” by Milind Soman after she watched one of his films when she was 16-17 years old. Impressed by him, the actress started looking out for his contact on the internet and ended up getting his cellphone number. She said, “After the film,
I was obsessed with him. See how destiny played out. I was trying to find his address on the internet to send letters, and I came across his landline number. During that time, my father had gifted me a cellphone, which was very uncommon to receive at my age. Milind had left his cellphone number on his answering machine. I texted him and wished him on his birthday, and he immediately replied.”
Shahana revealed that she and Milind interacted over text for six years without ever speaking on calls. Calling herself a “stalker fan,” she shared that even when she wrote letters to him, it was always an attempt to connect with him as a person and not like an obsessive admirer. She added that after moving to Mumbai for college, the two met only three times by chance. Six years later, when both of them were single, Shahana messaged him again, following which they started dating.
Further, the actress revealed why they decided to end their relationship in 2013. She added, “It’s just about timing. Till the very end, we were in love with each other. When you see that a relationship is not able to sync, you have to let it go. I was in a phase of realising that I am not someone who can be in a conventional relationship. I believe in love very deeply but I believe in freedom. I have learnt over time that if you keep people trapped with yourself, that’s not love. Let them be. That was also a difference between us. It was a natural realisation that we are no longer compatible. We have a lot of love for each other but we don’t want the same things in the relationship.”
Currently, Milind is married to Ankita Konwar, who is 26 years younger than him.
