Yash will soon be seen essaying the role of Ravan in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, scheduled to hit theatres on Diwali this year. While everyone is excited about the upcoming movie, the pan-India star has now opened up about why he agreed to be a part of the project, the story behind which is not very much known to the West.
Yash was recently speaking to Collider, when he said, “This is a story that has stayed for 5,000 years. It’s part of our culture. It’s our history. So when a country is so close to this story, so close to the people, it means something because it’s stayed for so long. It really has that significance.”
The actor further shared what he would like to tell the Western audience with his movie and added, “I think its story about humanity.
It’s a story about how a person in any situation, has to conduct himself gracefully.”
Yash also talked about the difficulties lord Rama faced in his life and said, “If you see Rama’s life, Lord Rama faced unbelievable problems in his life in India after being born to a privileged family. He would be born into a royal family, but he starts losing everything, and he takes all of it gracefully. The way he lived his life has become an example. So I think it will connect to every individual. It’s a global emotion. I think they will experience it. It will really help them to understand life in a deeper manner.”
While Yash is playing the role of Ravan in Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen essaying lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita in Ramayana. Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey will play the roles of Hanuman and Lakshman, respectively. On the other hand, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Mandodari and Surpanakha. Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan are also part of this project.
Ramayana: Part I is slated for a theatrical release this Diwali, while the second chapter will release on Diwali 2027.
