Shabana Azmi’s visit to Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Sunday left many emotional. As protesters continued their sit-in ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) march to Parliament, the veteran actor quietly stood in solidarity with them, kissing the hand of a woman on hunger strike and gently caressing her face. CJP will be marching to the Parliament today from Jantar Mantar as the Monsoon session kicks off.
In a video going viral now, Shabana Azmi is seen kissing a protestor’s hand lovingly. This protestor, Neha, has been on a hunger strike for more than 20 days now. Shabana sat beside her, talked to her and even caressed her face
Posting the video, the protester wrote, “Thank you @azmishabana18 ma’am for your support, solidarity and love..”

Prakash Raj was also seen at the protest site, supporting CJP. He also spoke on the stage saying, “I am with you tonight. I am right here. We will see what happens.” Later, Raj posted a video from the site, writing, “Youth of our country are #justasking.”
Meanwhile, during her visit, Shabana met Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke, who is currently on a hunger strike. Videos from the protest site showed the veteran actor interacting with him, holding his hand as they spoke and spending time with other protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar.
This comes days after Shabana publicly supported climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who joined the CJP-led movement and began an indefinite hunger strike on June 28.

Earlier this week, Shabana shared Wangchuk’s photograph on Instagram and praised him for standing against injustice. She wrote, “Dear Sonam Wangchuk, our country gravely needs a person like you. You’re standing against injustice, in favour of the truth. We’re all very proud of you.”
She also urged him to reconsider continuing the fast because of the impact on his health.
“That’s why we request you to end your hunger strike because your guidance really encourages our students. Yeh ladayi aage tak ladni hai. For that, it’s important you stay healthy. We’re all with you,” she added.
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has been holding a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar since June 6, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak and other exam irregularities. The protest gained nationwide attention after education reformer Sonam Wangchuk began an indefinite hunger strike on June 28. Following a decline in his health, he was taken to a hospital after court intervention. The CJP is now set to march to Parliament as the Monsoon Session begins.
