New Delhi, Jul 30 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will launch the ‘Vidya Vahini’ bicycle distribution programme on Friday, handing over bicycles to class 9 girl students at a mega event at the East Vinod Nagar Sports Complex.
In the first phase, Gupta will distribute 3,000 bicycles to girl students. A total of 1.40 lakh bicycles will be given to schoolgirls across Delhi in a phased manner over the next month, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
The initiative aims to make commuting to school easier, encourage regular attendance, and help girls become more self-reliant and confident, it said.
Gupta said the Delhi government is committed to ensuring that no girl in the city is deprived of education because
of distance, lack of resources or transportation-related challenges. PTI VIT VIT RHL RHL
