Qatar Restricts Airspace Hours After Iran Warns Of 'Painful' Retaliation Against Israel

Qatar on Sunday issued Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) establishing temporary alternate flight routes for aircraft departing from Doha and airports in Saudi Arabia.

The notice, effective from June 7 through June 14, has been issued due to ongoing regional security tensions, according to a report by Russia Today. Check LIVE Updates Here

This comes as Israel targeted southern Beirut on Sunday. This is the first attack on Lebanese capital since a truce brokered by the US last week.

According to a report on Lebanon’s news agency, two air strikes were hit on two apartment buildings in a stronghold of Iran-backed Hezbollah killing two people and injuring 17.

Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed more than 3,560 people since the country was drawn into the wider war after Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel on 2 March in support of Iran.

BBC quoted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying that Israel had struck “terrorist headquarters in the Dahieh district of Beirut, in response to Hezbollah’s firing at Israeli territory”.

In a social media post, parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused Washington of giving Israel the “green light” for strikes that hit two targets in the Lebanese capital.

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, posted the remarks on social media platform X, saying Iran would respond strongly to what he called as an attack on the Dahiyeh district of Beirut.

“We will deliver a decisive and painful response to the Zionist regime’s attack on Dahiyeh,” Rezaei wrote. “These rabid dogs must be disciplined and put back in their place. Watch the skies over the occupied lands tonight.”
