What is the story about?
FIFA has revealed the complete schedule for the 2026 Football World Cup, with co-hosts Mexico kick-starting the marquee event against South Africa at the Mexico City Stadium in Mexico City on June 11. The opening day will feature another game that will see South Korea facing a yet-to-be-determined qualifier.
The 39-day tournament will get underway from June 11, with the final scheduled for July 19, and will be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada. Next year’s edition will be the FIFA World Cup’s biggest ever in history, with the number of teams expanded from 32 to 48. A total of 104 matches will be played across 16 venues in the three nations.
Argentina, the holders, will face Algeria on June 16 to kick-start their title defence.
