Sonu Sood Calls Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Generation Gutter’ Remark ‘Very Shameful’: 'Think Before You Speak'

Actor Sonu Sood has criticised Kangana Ranaut’s controversial remarks about Gen Z protesters, saying public figures must choose their words carefully and respect the people whose support helps build their careers.

Sonu was responding to questions from reporters on Wednesday when he was informed that Kangana had allegedly described Gen Z protesters as “Generation Gutter.” While he initially said he had not heard her statement, the actor made it clear that he strongly disagreed with such language.

Sonu Sood Says Young People Shape Public Careers

Speaking about the role of younger audiences, Sonu said actors and other public figures owe much of their success to the people who support them.

“I haven’t heard her statement. But I feel that these young

people are the ones who make actors, and they are the ones who help you reach this position,” he said.

He added that public support remains essential for anyone who works in the public eye.

“As long as they stand by you, you will continue to thrive. If they are not with you, it becomes difficult. That’s why everyone should be taken along,” Sonu said.

The actor stressed that this relationship is not limited to films or politics. According to him, people give meaning and relevance to every profession.

“Whatever your profession may be, whether you are an actor, a doctor, or anything else, your existence in this world has meaning only as long as people are connected with you,” he said.

‘It Is Very Shameful,’ Says Sonu

After reporters told Sonu about Kangana’s “Generation Gutter” comment, he did not hold back.

“If she has said that, then I think it is very shameful. It should not have been said,” he responded.

Sonu also invoked the saying “Tol mol ke bol,” which translates to weighing one’s words before speaking.

“There is a saying, ‘Tol mol ke bol.’ It is very important to think carefully before you speak because the public is another form of God,” he added.

What Kangana Ranaut Said About Gen Z Protesters

The controversy began after Kangana shared an Instagram story reacting to videos from protests held at Jantar Mantar and other locations.

She criticised the protesters’ language and behaviour, calling the clips “puke-inducing” and accusing some participants of flaunting drug use, drinking and financial dependence on their parents.

Kangana then referred to them as “Generation Gutter,” claiming that some had “nothing to offer to the system” and were neither good at studies nor capable of becoming homemakers.

Her remarks have since triggered a sharp debate online, with social media users divided over both her criticism of the protesters and the language she used.
