Following road safety rules while driving a car, scooter, or any road vehicle is essential as it helps in preventing accidents, protecting lives, and creating an organised transportation system for everyone,
including drivers and pedestrians. Some of the key rules include obeying speed limits, using seat belts and helmets, avoiding distractions like mobile phones, and following traffic signals and pedestrian crossings.
Think you’re aware of all the traffic rules? Okay, then here’s a quick test for you. Check out the video of a Scooter rider bumping into an Auto during normal traffic, and tell us what went wrong?
Scooter Bumps Into Auto
In the video shared on X, a woman is seen riding a scooter amidst usual traffic. Listening to the horn, she suddenly changes her lane and tries to overtake an Auto near a divergence. She bumps into another Auto Rickshaw, overloaded with passengers, coming from the opposite direction, and starts blaming the driver. Now, who’s at fault in this clip?

What Does The Internet Have to Say?
An X user observed her side mirror and wrote, “Her side mirror, if it’s a lorry instead of an auto, she might be in grave danger; her good karmas saved her.” Another one shared, “Every license should have the name of test invigilator. Invigilators with most accidents should be fired and their pensions forfeited.”
One of them shared, “The most problematic thing in this video is the creep recording the video, honking and laughing.” A person shared, “Never overtake from the left side.”
However, one user noted down not one but 5 mistakes that caused the accident.
1. Driving on right lane.
2. Changing lane without indicator
3. Rear view folded
4. Overtaking from left
5. Not using common sense, that not to cross stranded vehicle, while overtaking from left.I judge 100% fault by 2W driver. But 3W auto is over loded too!!

Driving on the right lane: In India, you are supposed to drive on the left side of the road and use the right lane for overtaking only.
Changing lane without an indicator: While driving, changing lanes without using your turn indicator is unsafe and illegal and can lead to accidents.
Rear View Folded: A rear-view mirror folded in on a scooter can cause loss of visibility of the surrounding traffic, making it difficult to judge the distance of other vehicles.
Overtaking from left: Overtaking from the left in India is unsafe and generally illegal because drivers in India keep to the left side of the road.
Not using common sense, that not to cross a stranded vehicle, while overtaking from left.
Women rider lost ‘sense’ because of ‘stalking’? As the account that posted the viral clip praised the points by the commentator, it wrote that still a detail was left to be spotted. To this, another social media user replied, “The missing point may be that the girl was in hurry or lost sense because she knew she was stalked, so that’s also a reason to for accident. So please don’t follow a woman this close and make her insecure.”
In India, not following traffic rules can lead to penalties like fines, license suspension, and even imprisonment for serious offenses.
