Royal Enfield on Wednesday announced the third edition of its ice hockey season, which will include developmental tournaments such as the Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League in Ladakh, held in collaboration
with the UT administration and the Spiti Cup in Himachal Pradesh.
Building on the success of previous editions, the 2025-26 season starts with a strong focus on training and community capacity building.
The season starts this month with comprehensive coaching and referee training programs in Dehradun and Leh, conducted by IIHF-certified experts, coach Darryl Eason and officiating instructor Peter Gebei.
The camps aim to equip local coaches and officials with advanced skills to run Learn to Play programs, identify and train young talent, and develop community-based teams that will later compete in the upcoming developmental tournaments.
Key Training Highlights
Basic and intermediate coach training camps: Empowering local coaches to run Learn to Play camps, sharpen their technical skills and scout emerging talent to build competitive teams for the developmental leagues.
Referee training (Delhi): Bringing together officials from the Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and regional associations, with a strong focus on increasing women’s participation in officiating roles.
Learn to play and basic skating programs: Introducing more than 1000 children to ice hockey across Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Pond hockey programme: A new community initiative will launch a five-day training program for 80 kids, followed by a non-contact 3v3 tournament at Gupuk Pond near Leh, offering a fun, inclusive introduction to the sport for young enthusiasts and first-time skaters.
Bidisha Dey, executive director, Eicher Group Foundation, the CSR arm of Royal Enfield, said, “Ice hockey continues to be a powerful expression of community resilience across the Himalayas. With season 3, we are moving from participation to progression, strengthening the grassroots ecosystem through structured coach and referee training and extending our reach across Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.”
