Ahmedabad, Sep 12 (PTI) Three residents of Madhya Pradesh were arrested with mephedrone worth about Rs 4.7 crore in Ahmedabad, police said on Saturday.
Acting on inputs, the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch intercepted the three men on Friday and recovered 939.81 grams of the drug, which also has street names such as meow meow and M-CAT.
The trio was identified as MP residents Aslam Mansuri (29), Imran Mansuri (28) and Shehzad Mansuri (22), an official release said.
During preliminary interrogation, the persons told the police that they had travelled to Ahmedabad at the behest of one Imran Pathan, also from MP, to deliver the mephedrone, a powerful synthetic stimulant.
They were supposed to hand over the drug consignment, valued at nearly Rs 4.7 crore,
to a person who was to come to collect it, the release said.
The three were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, it said.
“The accused were produced before a court, which remanded them in police custody for 10 days to facilitate further investigation into the intended delivery point in Ahmedabad and the involvement of others in the alleged drug racket,” it added. PTI KVM NR
