Hyderabad, Jun 4 (PTI) A fire broke out at a shopping complex in Ameerpet area here on Thursday, but no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, police said.
Seven fire tenders were pressed into service and the blaze was brought under control.
As per information, the fire is suspected to have started in a helmet shop and spread to adjoining cloth shop and other shops in the building and information about the fire was received at around 12.30 pm, a senior police official said.
Fire and police personnel evacuated people from the building, he said.
The exact cause of the fire was under investigation, the official said, adding the material was inflammable.
Thick black smoke emanated from the premises.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police in a post
on ‘X’ said: “Due to emergency response operations, vehicular movement is affected on the Ameerpet to SR Nagar stretch, resulting in traffic congestion in the area.” Commuters were advised to avoid the affected route if possible and use alternate routes and plan their travel accordingly, it said.
Later, after the fire was brought under control, traffic movement on the route was normalised. PTI VVK VVK ROH
